APPARENTLY, today is national candy corn day. That’s what I keep hearing and reading. But why? I tried “googling” it and couldn’t find anything! But the one thing I did find is quite funny…
“Origin of National Candy Corn Day:
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. Aside from Ecard companies and calendar websites, there is little reference to this day.
We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day. We found no congressional records or presidential proclamation. “

So… I THINK… it was made up, kind of like sweetest day, by the manufactuers of candy corn, which is now the jelly bean company since the 1900’s. Another interesting fact:
Candy corn has been around for more than 100 years. George Renninger, an employee of the Wunderlee Candy Company, invented the popular confection in the 1880s and Wunderlee became the first to produce the candy. The Goelitz Candy Company (now Jelly Belly Candy Company) started producing the confection in 1900 and still produces candy corn today.
