{February 28, 2008}   Day 8: What day is it?

I had the day off work yesterday, a Wednesday. I felt like it was Saturday all day because I had worked the day before but wasn’t currently working. Then I remembered I had to go to work the next day so it felt like a Sunday. Of course this morning then felt like a Monday… Oh Man, 2 Mondays in one week! How horrible! But that was only until about 9am when the checks came….

check-day.jpg

Ah Yes, Its Thursday. Its Check day. and that means sorting and checking and stuffing and gluing and stamping and postaging and mailing. What a process it is on Thursday Mornings… but hey, at least its One day closer to Friday! and its NOT Monday again! Yea!

{February 27, 2008}   Day 7: Alligator Farm

alligator-farm.jpg

So I was a tourist in my own State again haha. Haven’t been here very long so I often feel like a tourist anyway… But the inlaws are visiting and I took today off work to hang out. Unfortunately we picked a bad day off because it was cloudy, rainy and Cold all day!! So we were trying to find something to do indoors but we couldn’t decide on anything! One person didn’t want to do this, another didnt want to do that, and no one would just give in or pick something. So we  knew that  the hubbys dad wanted to go to the everglades, that all he’d been talking about, so we found this Alligator Farm in Florida City in the everglades. So we decided to go there… it was something to do and everyone seemed to enjoy it, but it was pretty small and nothing really to write home about… although I am writing about it so does that defeat the purpose of the saying… hmm… well anyway… they had a show and this guy was like wrestling the alligator and then in another show he was feeding them dead mice EWW. Why we were taking pictures of that I have no clue…. but why not I guess…

alligator-feeding.jpgalligator-show.jpg

so, Florida city is like 20-30 miles from the Keys, so they also wanted to go there since they were that close. They wanted to go just to say they had been to the keys. We were only going to go to the first key, Key Largo, so thats good thats all they wanted to go for cuz theres not much to do! haha. But we went there for our 1st anniversary last month so we showed them where we stayed and where we had our ann. dinner cuz it was a really pretty view and they wanted to go out to the ocean, and there was this dock there at the restaurant, so  we took them there. and then we stopped at where we had our glass bottom boat tour because it was another tourist spot, you could see the boat The African Queen. You kno, from that old movie? Well she had seen the movie so she was excited about that.

african-queen-boat.jpg

And that’s about it. That was my day. Just driving around, being a tourist and a tour guide and of course taking pictures!

“Look at this stuff
Isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl
The girl who has ev’rything?

I’ve got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore
(You want thingamabobs?
I got twenty)
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more”

And thats from the Little Mermaid’s song “Part of Your World” if you couldn’t place that haha. I’ve got song lyrics on the brain lately, apparently. But I guess that does tell a lot about me, I like to match music to my moods or life or …something. Ha. But anyway, Yeah there is my shotglass collection. I actually just got that new shelf for it. I love it so much, the crazy shape of it yet its contained in a box so its pretty symmetrical. its like ordered chaos… and that is my life!! So the shot glasses are from my travels. Some places I got more than one shotglass at a time so it’s not really that many trips. and a lot of them are from Disney, some diff. trips some the same trip but diff parks. and 2 of them are gifts, one is from Las Vegas and I’ve never been there. That is the only one I have that I haven’t been to that place. I wish I would have started it sooner, because I feel like I used to travel more different places, but I didnt start this until my 1st yr of college. I guess I never thought about it because I didn’t drink in HS. It probably would have felt wrong to buy a shot glass at that time, so I understand my reasoning there. But it would be nice to have one from Every place I’ve gone. I mean, I went to Spain, wouldn’t it be awesome to have a shotglass from there??? haha. but I am happy with my collection and just can’t wait to travel more and add to it! :)

{February 27, 2008}   Record High Temps

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Record High on Sunday!! It was 89 degrees. It hasn’t reached over 86 degrees since 1976! That is insane.  The normal average temp around this time is 70 degrees.  So I hope all you ppl in the cold weather aren’t hating me right now! :)

So the picture is a pic of my TV screen if you haven’t figured that out… is that cheating? lol.  I watch the news every morning. And sometimes I dont know why… its the same shit day in and day out. I mean, besides the weather, that changes, and thats what I mostly watch it for. I say weather and traffic, but really the only traffic they show is the highways and I dont even take the highway to work! so I dont know why I bother sometimes. I should just look the weather up on the internet or something to miss all the nonsense. I get really sick of hearing about horrible car accidents, or people killing other people, or the worst is when little kids get hurt or die! It’s So Sad. what is this world coming to?? I ask myself. Or is it not so bad but thats all they show? Are people Really interested enough in those stories that they can’t show all the good people do? I really don’t get it sometimes and it just makes me sick!

{February 25, 2008}   I’m Cleaning Out My Closet…

“I’m sorry mama, I never meant to hurt you, I
never meant to make you cry, but tonight i’m cleanin’ out my closet…
I got some skeletons in my closet and I don’t know if no one knows it, so before they thrown me inside my coffin and close it, i’ma expose it…”

There’s some Eminem to start out my topic for ya. Get where I’m goin with this one? haha

Well Today it was RAINING…

shout out to our cars :) (front and back view from our apt)

So it was the perfect time to CLEAN! Not to mention Curt’s parents are coming into town tomorrow, that was the reason for the cleaning. But at least it made me want to clean since there was really nothing to do outside. So instead of sunning myself as I did yesterday… you guessed it, I cleaned out my closet!

I’m happy because it made a bit more room in there! There are so many clothes I don’t wear anymore. I always think that one day I’ll wear it or one day it will come back in style, so I’ll keep it. A lot of the stuff doesn’t even really fit me anymore, but again I say, One Day I will fit into it again. HaHa. There are always a million reasons to keep something, but always a good one to just Clean Out Your Closet… :)

{February 24, 2008}   Day 3: Rules for the Beach

First I’d like to say how I don’t like how this blog changes the date when you edit or update a previous blog, so the dates really suck and I’m going to have to type the day I took the picture. and because of that I knew it wouldn’t matter that I wrote this blog the day after I actually took the picture… hehe

Rules For The Beach (For the people who don’t have a clue):

1. Get off the Phone

The beach is supposed to be a nice, relaxing time. If I didn’t use my phone just to keep the time so my meter doesn’t expire I would say that they should be banned. But at least have the decency to not bother the people around you trying to enjoy themselves, and make them listen to your boring one way conversation.

2. Mind Others Personal Space

There are a million of miles of beach out there. Why do you have to sit Right next to another group of people? Move down a few feet.

3. No complaining about how hot it is!

Um HELLO It’s the beach! It’s 80 degrees. The sun is going to feel hot. If you don’t want to be out in the sun, put a little sunhat on, put some clothes on, and either go sit inside or go shopping or something. Are you really serious complaining about that??

4. Don’t walk so close to others when there is plenty of open beach space.

One, it kicks sand on someone. and Two refer back to #2 about personal space.

Okay, so now that we have the rules clear I can move on to my story. As you can see I didn’t have the most relaxing day at the beach… its obvious  how annoyed I was at the phone part… and it was not just one person. a couple were each on separate phones talking to people and then in the group of the next ppl over someone else was on the phone as well… I even had my ipod on and i could still hear them, I guess I should have just turned it up!

Then the personal space. First of all, I give ppl space and I want my own space, so when there was some room at the front of the beach in between two groups of ppl I decided to keep my distance a bit and stay back a few feet. I guess that was an open invitation for this group of 4 older pastey white (shouldn’t make fun of the pastey ppl cuz I live in FL and I’m very white, but its the Irish in me and I tend to burn easily… ) tourists to sit inbetween them, directly in front of me right in my line of view to the nice peaceful ocean I was staring out at. I should have said something but I’m not one to be rude, so I stopped staring at the Ocean, since I no longer could without staring at their big asses as they were setting up their stuff, and pulled out a book to read. So skipping to Number 4, I put the book down when I flipped to lay on my back. Then one of the stupid pastey tourists decides to come back from where ever it was that she went and walk directly next to me kicking sand on my stuff and looking down at the book I had laying there. What, do you want to read it? Why do you care what I’m reading?

And then my personal favorite. The couple that was complaining about how hot it was… I can’t even write about that anymore because really, that is too dumb to even talk further about… haha.

So I guess I just picked a bad day to go to the beach.  It was a Saturday and a really nice day. They even said on the news it was going to be a great beach day, so I should have taken that information and run the other way! It didn’t help that I didn’t get there until almost 11. The spot I found that I always go to when I’m by myself is rarely busy. Thats why I picked it! There were always a lot of open spots to park, its easy access to the beach- I dont have to walk far, and its by the hotels so there is a lot of open area since the hotels are all right next to each other, and the beach is never crowded. Maybe it’s just getting too close to the travel season or something I don’t know. But there was only one meter open and I had to parallel park! I was nervous cuz it has been a while since I had to do that, but I did fine! And if it weren’t for all the stupid people I would have had a nice relaxing time. But instead I was annoyed most of the time there.

But enough of complaining! It still was nice to have my feet in the sand and the sun beating down all warm. I love the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the seagulls calling (which is one reason I didn’t have my music up too loud). All I can think of is my friends and family that are back home in Michigan freezing their butts off! They would probably give anything to be on the beach right now instead of in 5 degree weather with snow and ice. -Although no one has come to visit me yet, so shame on you all and you could be in this nice weather right now if you did haha. But in spite of all the complaining I really am happy to live so close the beach and I’m glad I had the chance to visit it on a nice day!

Here is a picture I took before the people ruined my nice view. Look at what they ruined for me, shame on them! :)

{February 23, 2008}   My Gheto Ass Work Desk…

So I was just reading PolynesianPrincess’s blog about her broken zipper (You should read her stuff, its hilarious!) and it brought back a memory of something that happened today at work. So it was 530PM. Ok, I’m supposed to leave at 5 but as I mentioned in my previous post that I was alone and had to do more work than my own, and I usually end up staying late when that happens… so here it is 530 and everyone but one person and myself has left the office. I’m rushing around to get my work done and I’m getting ready to leave so I lock my desk drawer and about to walk out… yes I have to lock my drawer so the cleaning people don’t steal the money I have to hang on to that I had to collect for our office outing… well the lock has been tough to turn lately, I don’t know what the issue is. Well as I pull the key out, I feel it kind of heavy and then all of a sudden something falls from the key to the ground! Its the lock! the F*ing lock falls out of my desk! How is that possible? So I try to open my drawer and it’s still locked! Great, what Am I going to do now?? I think to myself. Everything I need is locked in those drawers, including all that money! and this little spring that I have no idea where it goes also came out… well I push the lock back into the desk and it seems to be ok… i just hope that spring wasn’t too important… but how ghetto is my desk that the lock FALLS Out!? Geesh….

My Photo of the Day:

Chocolate! (mixed with work) And Dark Chocolate at that. My favorite candy right now is Dark Chocolate M&Ms. And how did one of my old co-workers know that?? or sense that… She just happened to be in the neighborhood picking up her dry cleaning because she got out of her new job early the other day. So she stopped by to visit and brought her old “triangle” goodies! (minus one member who was not so lucky haha, i find out everyday that more ppl think like I always have about him, I never knew…) But anyway, I was lucky enough to be considered her old triangle even though I technically wasn’t part of one, or maybe I should be considered part of many… but she was always nice enough to consider me a part of the group. Now M&M’s are something so classic of her to bring. She always, and I mean Always had M&M’s in her desk drawer. and not just a small bag, one of those HUGE bags. One other member of the triangle has since mentioned many times how glad yet sad she is that those bags of M&M’s don’t exist, because she has lost weight by not eating them! haha. But of course misses them at the same time, along with her friend. I miss her too, things just aren’t the same without her… its funny how the whole dynamic of a group changes when you take one person away… I felt like after she left that she was the glue that held everything together. Things just started drifting after that.
But back to the chocolate. I’m really trying to be good about not eating so much junk food. Lately it has been tough, and then she throws this at me! So I saved it a couple days because I knew there would be a day where I would Really Really crave chocolate. And today, my friends, was that day! It was so stressful. My partner was gone today and it seems that every time she takes off my supervisor just happens to be gone too! So all the weight of the work rests solely on my shoulders. I won’t get into that boring topic, but lets just say that today was Not a good day… and that bag of dark chocolate M&M’s just saved my day!!!

{February 22, 2008}   Day 1 Photo Challenge: Shoes

Welcome to the world of blogging! I was challenged to a photo challenge by my good friend. And I encourage anyone who is reading this to join in! It could be fun! The challenge is to carry around your camera with you and take pictures of anything you see that inspires you. Anything from friends/family to flowers you see on a walk to your breakfast! Anything! Not only does it keep track of your day to day life and helps you not to forget things that happen, or seem trivial at the time, but it will also open your eyes to the world around you! You may see things differently going forward. Who Knows what this challenge could lead to!

So… we were going to start March 1st because the challenge is to do this for at least 30 days. First of the month seems a good time to start, but i got excited about starting this blog, and about the new pair of shoes I was wearing today. So I decided to start early! haha. Yes I am going to blog about SHOES. See, anything small can catch your attention.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

There are my shoes. Nothing special you may think. But to me, they are lovely. See I don’t spend a lot of money on shoes. So when I saw they were like $70 i almost had a heart attack until I saw the clearance sticker on the box which brought the price down to just under $30! and that is even a lot for me, but its what it is worth and the difference of what I pay that makes it worth it. Plus they are ninewest brand which I heard is really comfy and I’m all about the comfort! I will not wear shoes that hurt my feet no matter how cute I think the shoe is!! So… I bought the shoes. Mind you, high heels and thin heels are usually not very comfy so i stick to thick heels and ones that are semi short. But these have surprised me so far! They we very comfortable today, even on the first wear. So I am a happy camper! I’m also happy cuz they are open toe and up until a few days ago I thought that we couldn’t wear them outside of summer months, but at our reminder dress-code meeting it was brought up that we could as long as we had polished nails and the shoes had a clasp and weren’t the ‘thong’ type. So for now, I am happy with my purchase!

And there is my first photo challenge picture. One day down, 29 more to go!

So on a side note… I really don’t like feet, so it was kind of hard for me to use this picture… but I thought it looked better then just the shoes laying there. I mean what does that say? I’m talking about how comfortable the shoes are, and how I’m happy about them, but I just let them lay there, unused? So for effect reasons I had to post the feet in them… so sorry if you don’t like feet either! haha.
